Every week, I’ll be sharing a new recipe from my new cookbook, Clif Whey Protein Bars. The combination of oats, whey protein, and bananas is a classic way to make a protein bar that anyone can enjoy. The flavors of banana and chocolate are just amazing! This recipe is so simple to make and it tastes just like the original.
The recipe is a little different than the originals, but is still a great way to get you started. First you need oats, a recipe for a cereal that’s already been around for decades and I’m sure I’m not the first person who has used that cereal. You then need to make a blender puree the bananas and mix everything together. This recipe is for a 1/2 cup of oats, 1/2 cup of banana puree, and 1/2 cup of chocolate milk.
The recipe is very similar to the original. The only thing that is different is the mix. A 12 cup of oats, 12 cup of a puree (banana puree) and 12 cup of chocolate milk.
The oats I use are not even oats. These are the oats that the guy I got them from said he was eating as a kid, because he used to sell them at a Mexican restaurant. I used to think this was a coincidence because he lived in South Jersey, but I checked and they are actually sold in other parts of the US. I was hoping they would be sold in my part of the US, but it seems they have not actually been released.
What I did was I used up all of the oats I had on hand, so I bought the same amount of oats from another source and I took it over to the store to make it into a 12 cup of puree banana puree mix. The banana puree I use is not even banana puree. I used the banana puree because I had all of the bananas I wanted to use in my recipe.
I think it is because of our country’s food habits that we tend to buy the same products over and over again. For example, I have a lot of black beans. I’ve been trying to figure out how to use them up but I have not found a way yet. If you’ve ever seen me cook beans, you know I just throw them in a pot and let it all boil off.
